2010: The Year of Blogging...Maybe?
Journaling has always been a hard thing for me to do. I'm too much of a perfectionist to let my handwriting cover pages and pages without worrying about how it looks and I'm often too afraid to let my thoughts become real by writing them. I recently read a book (one of Eric's future seminary texts, actually) about the importance of journaling in a spiritual life. When we moved to Swanzey, I spent the first three months of our marriage/camp-life writing my thoughts in a journal. It was a great release for me, except that I used it as my outlet for the stress of being newly married and not seeing my husband and living in a new place. Although I sought God through my words and read my Bible during those writing times, I used it to replace communicating and discussing with Eric. That is not good spiritual journaling. So I stopped writing, but, don't worry, I did start bringing my thoughts to Eric instead! Now I want to start journaling more.
Enter: blog.
I think I always make my blog entries simple and without depth because of my perfectionism and fear. Why can't I express myself? So, this year, I think I am going to invest more in my blog - not necessarily by deep, intellectual writing (it's me afterall!) but by listing memories and thoughts. It sounds silly, but, let's be honest, it's 2010, and a blog is as real and natural as anything! (I mean according to books I read in 8th grade, we should be living on the moon by now...)
So, from now on, I will update more than once every three months...hopefully! ;)
Happy New Year!

Exploring Boston, yet again
Eric and I had the opportunity to spend a day and a half in Boston - this time to meet The Sturdy's on their "first anniversary vacation."
We stayed in a great hotel, with a view of the the Bunker Hill Bridge, the Charles River and the Boston skyline. The best part, being that Andrew and Alicia's hotel was only a 15 minute walk from ours! We spent our first night together walking around the West End, following some of the Freedom Trail and eating at the oldest pub in Boston, The Bell In Hand. We devoted the next day to the Museum of Science (with a stop at the Harry Potter exhibit!), the Sam Adam's Brewery, and Harvard Square in Cambridge. I recommend all three to anyone visiting the Boston area! It was refreshing to spend time with close friends - especially A2.
November is packed with events that lead into the biggest event of the year that will take us to Chicago. Our family appreciates all of the prayers and support we've been given regarding Eric and Peder's surgery. It's scary and surreal but such a blessing, too. We are looking forward to spending time in Chicago with family and friends, but wish it could be under different circumstances. We are holding fast to God's hand and finding peace in him.
Keep praying!

I'm still here...
Hi. I'm alive. Life has been eventful in chaotic but wonderful ways!
Updates on that coming soon...
Updates on that coming soon...
Last weekend I met a group if close girlfriends in Washington, DC,
where we toured much of the city's historical attractions in between
catching up. It was great to be in a new city and to spend tine with
women who know me and care about me.
My friend Esther played hostess for the weekend, since she and her
husband live in the Capitol Hill area. I saw the Capitol more than
I've ever seen it before - big and beautiful. The image above was
taking while we sat near a fountain looking put at the Mall.

It's over!
Well, we've come to the end of the CHIC week and it was amazing, to say the least. I feel so blessed to have been a part of it. God brought talented people together to create this and he definitely spoke through all parts of it!
It was good to see old friends (even though there wasn't time to catch up). Being here definitely made me miss my North Park and post-North Park communities, but reinforced the knowledge that God has something planned for us in New Hampshire. He is big!
I am very excited to get home and get some sleep and enjoy time with family this week. :)

CHiC 2009
I am currently sitting in the production office of the CHiC (Covenant High in Christ) conference. It's a triennial event for senior high students in the Covenant denomination. Since I didn't grow up in the Covenant church, I have never attended, but have heard all about it since being at North Park.
The conference is held at the University of Tennessee and I was giving the opportunity to be a part of the mainstage team this year! I'm working on the transportation side of things (picking up artists and speakers at the airport and driving them around town) and have already had my hands full since arriving this afternoon.
I'm excited (and nervous) for what the rest of the week holds since I put the schedule together!
I can't wait to see the final productions though - God has gifted some amazing people with unbelievable talent. And I'm excited to see how excited the kids will be!
Hooray!
